Tan Arlidge (b.1987) is an independant Australian artist creating soft, fluid sculptural works with a tantalising tension that leave the viewer resisting the urge to reach out and feel. She currently lives and works in Bondi Beach, Sydney.

Tan explores form and shape primarily through the process of thermoforming polymer. Prior to establishing her full time art practise in 2021, Tan worked extensively for more than a decade as a Set Designer, Visual Merchandiser and Stylist in the Fashion industry for a number of respected Australian brands eg.  Christopher Esber, Lee Mathews, Alice McCall and sass & bide.  It was during this time Tan discovered a common thread with her curiosity for manipulation of materials ie.  Paper, cellophane and mesh.

In 2015 Tan was given the opportunity to exhibit her thermoformed polymer sculptures in the windows of 16 sass & bide boutiques across Australia and New Zealand.  Since this time Tans sculptural work has grown a steady following here in Australia along with New Zealand, Sweden & New York.

In few words Tans work can be described as “moments in time captured as sculpture”.
